Work in Progress!

I missed the regular WIP Wednesday post this week.  “What the heck!”  I don’t know where the time has gone.  However, I did get to my sewing machine in the evenings and am ready to share.

Way back in July, I joined the “Christmas in July”  Quilt-a-long (by Free Style Fabrics – see button on my sidebar if you want complete information – it’s not too late to join!)…I didn’t actually do anything, but print off the directions and start to think of what direction I would take with this.

This week I dove in….and made the first 3 blocks in the series.  I love how they are not all the same size…it will be interesting to see them come together.  For now, here are my first three…enjoy! 🙂

Block #1 is presented by Heather of Fiberosity.com.  It finishes at 10.5″ x 18.5″ and is easy to put together, just make sure your 1/4″ seam allowance is VERY accurate!

Block 1
Block 1 is supposed to look a bit like a string of Christmas lights…it is easy and went together quickly. You just have to be very accurate with that 1/4″ seam allowance.

Block #2 , presented by Pat Sloan is called “Through the Window”.  It finishes as a large block, at 18″ square.   I don’t think mine looks like looking through a window, but it does look like a present, so that is just fine.  I like how it turned out.

Block 2
Block 2 – is supposed to look like ‘looking through a window’, however mine looks more like a wonderful Christmas gift, I think

Block #3 is presented by Melanie Dramatic.  She called it ‘Wrap it Up’ and it is so much fun.  It is very liberating, made in the wonky style and then, once squared up measures 7.5″ x 14.5″.  Very cool.

Block 3
Wow – this one went together VERY quickly – it looks like a pretty wrapped up present.

I am anxious to keep going so will post more progress again soon!  What have you been up to?

Connie 🙂
