One week, One thing – another finish

I haven’t been updating on this challenge much, but I have been concentrating on the “ONE WEEK, ONE THING” concept.  I have been working on one quilt.  I have taken my Sew Out Loud {quilters’ wordplay} project and finished it!

I put it all together and had a hard time deciding how to quilt it.  This is a familiar challenge for me.  I never know what to do, but I usually figure things out as I go.  I’m not really comfortable yet with machine quilting (though I am getting better), so I did some straight lines on either side of the sashing strips.  Then I hand quilted each block to really make the most of all that hard work with the paper piecing.  This was much more difficult than I had anticipated.  Paper piecing leaves your work very thick, but I did manage a pleasing finish.

It will hang in my sewing/quilting room as inspiration – I have never been a fan of paper piecing and I was challenged with this project.  I love how it turned out.  I still don’t LOVE this method, but I am no longer afraid to try it.

Thanks to all the wonderful, talented quilters that created these wonderful blocks, and managed the Quilt-a-long!

Feel free to check out the photo gallery of other projects from this QAL in the Flickr group.

Happy Monday 🙂  Connie

I am living my dream life in the country! I love photography, travelling, cooking, baking and I even try my hand at quilting.
