Week of Gratitude – Thursday

Up until five years ago we were city dwellers in a very large metropolis. We worked in the heart of the financial industry. We liked it. We were happy. But our hearts, mostly mine, we’re in the country. I grew up in the country. I loved the fresh air and wide open spaces. When my hubby retired, we made the decision to down-size (our kids all grown and off living their own lives) and move to the country.

I’m grateful for having such a beautiful and peaceful place to live. In warmer weather we have our morning coffee on our porch and can hear the neighbour’s sheep and another neighbour’s rooster crow. What a wonderful sound. We are calmer people now. Taking pleasure in the simple things in life….fresh local veggies, fruit, eggs, cheese… We are truly enjoying the slower pace of life.

These are some of the little things that I enjoy here at home, and I’m grateful that I can share them with you…

My sleeping herb garden.

I love the colour still in this fallen, dried up maple leaf.

The soft moss and beautiful lichen on the front step that is never used.

The stark beauty of the November sun trying hard to peek through what are sure to be snow clouds.

The old milk can is waiting to be decked out in holiday splendour soon!

Thanks for visiting. Head on over to Michelle’s blog and check out her Gratitude Week project. 🙂

I am living my dream life in the country! I love photography, travelling, cooking, baking and I even try my hand at quilting.
