52 Photos Project – Week 17 :: recycled / repurposed

Welcome to Week 17 of Bella’s 52 Photos Project. This week’s prompt is recycled or repurposed. This was easy for me…a quilt!
IMG_1520.JPGI made this particular quilt for my husband. He had a big pile of shirts from ‘days gone by’ that had seen better days. They were worn, fraying & some even had holes in them, but they all held a special memory for him, making them difficult to throw out.

It is not an artistic quilt. It is a memory quilt. I cut up all the shirts into squares (as many as I could get out of each one). I even kept the pockets intact where possible:

For some added visual element, I used old, flannel sleep pants for a border and the binding as well.

IMG_1518.JPGI quilted it very simply with “X’s” through the squares. It is backed with a cosy soft yellow plaid flannel:

IMG_1527.JPGThis quilt sits on the end of the sofa during the cold weather. It is cosy, soft & warm to curl up under while reading or watching movies. Hubby is very happy and we have a blanket!

IMG_1529.JPGThank you so much for visiting. Now head on over to Bella’s page and see what how everyone else has interpreted this week’s prompt!

Until next time, Connie 😄
