Finalists – Best of 2014

Welcome back to BasildonKitchens.

On New Year’s Eve I promised to post the finalists of my “Best of 2014” photos. I decided to wait until after my photo club meeting, as it was our assignment and I didn’t want any members to have a peak before our meeting. 🙂

So, without further adieu, here they are (in no particular order):

This little sandpiper seems to be performing a ballet for us. This shot has so much personality.

Here are the first rays of sunshine in the late spring as seen from my front door. The view was so breathtaking that I ran to get my camera, even though I was ready to leave for work.

This heron was on the beach every morning. This day he/she let me get very close and then suddenly, without a sound, lifted off. It seems as if it flying right out of my photo. Hubby particularly likes his ‘knobby knees’.

I have been told that Gulf of Mexico sunsets are the best. This is just one…people gather on the beach each night just to see the sunsets. Often you hear applause! You can see why!

This is also in Florida while on vacation. We stopped into a very pretty park that had signs everywhere that said, “Beware of Alligators”. With this in mind, I tread very lightly and carefully to capture this shot. We didn’t see any alligators that day (thankfully)!

I hope you enjoy my finalists.  It was a difficult task, to be sure.

As always, thank you for visiting.  Until next time, Connie 🙂

      1. My camera seems to wash the colours out of the sunset… That’s gorgeous. My mom and dad used to go down to the gulf coast of Florida for 6 months of the year – and we visited a few times. I saw some nice sunsets – but nothing as spectacular as this one. I could certainly imagine applauding! Good job, Mother Nature!!! 🙂

  1. stunning photos. Your view from your front door is so pretty. I really love the bird shots too. I love birds but most especially a heron, is that the same as an egret? I call them egrets but I’m not sure if they are the same.
