Photography 101 – day one {home}

[this is a repeat of an earlier post that had some technical difficulties; thank you for your patience]

This Purple Martin House was pretty old looking when we moved into this house and property seven years ago. It’s looking a little worse every year. It leans just a little more. We keep trying to straighten it, but without much luck. We are, however, loathe to replace it with a newer model, as we fear that the birds may not come back. Perhaps we will put up a new one and see what happens before removing the old one.

The first sign that they’ve returned is the chattering. They communicate with each other with a large variety of chirping, clicking, and calling. You know the young have hatched, as the parents are soaring and swooping, catching bugs to feed the voracious appetites. I know that summer is coming to a close, when it all become silent again. They have come, built nests, raised a family and gone south; their job here is done.

This is their home, and an enjoyable part of my home.
