Photography 101 – day five {solitude & rule of thirds)

We’re excited about today’s theme, solitude. In addition to thinking about what it means to you, also consider the placement of the subject in your shot. How can you interpret the state of being alone, or a lonely and uninhabited place?

This was late last summer; a calm & hazy day. The beach was unusually empty and the sun was just beginning to set giving the water that golden glow, with a lone seagull drifting on the gentle current.

Solitude: a lone seagull on the calm lake, what more can I say?

Rule of thirds: this shot follows the rule; the color & texture of the water is in three distinctive bands, and completely fit the grid…the subject is in the lower corner of the grid. The skyline & islands in the distance are in the the top third.

Thank you for visiting. Until next time, Connie 🙂

I am living my dream life in the country! I love photography, travelling, cooking, baking and I even try my hand at quilting.
