December 2016 – week 50

Welcome back to my photo-a-day journey. I can’t believe we are in the final weeks of the year! Only two weeks to go!

Winter has arrived here in Southeastern Ontario!  Snow has arrived and it looks like it is here to stay for the season. With the new snow, we have very pretty vistas, but also challenging driving conditions.  Winter for me is always a ‘good news/bad news’ time of year.  Am I alone in this thinking? I think not.

Now on to this week’s photos:

December 11 – home; my home is getting decked out for the holiday season.

Decmeber 12 – sparkle; the sparkling Christmas tree.

December 13 – bokeh; Christmas tree bokeh … even pretty in black & white.

December 14 – festive; Santa makes the house feel very festive indeed, even early in the morning before the sunrise! πŸŽ…πŸ»

December 15 – mittens; my mittens drying out on top of the wood stove.

December 16 – a winter activity; lots of hiking through local nature trails. More snow on the way! ❄️

December 17 – tradition; enjoying a hot coffee from my favourite mug, watching a gentle snowfall. A winter’s Saturday morning tradition; not just during the holidays.

I hope that you had a great week. Bundled up, staying warm and having fun in the snow! Remember you can join the fun on Instagram, #thebethadillychallenge or follow me @BasildonKitchens.

Thank you for visiting.  Until next time, Connie πŸ™‚

  1. Hi Connie, the same feelings here, love all the whiteness around, but dressing up for going out and driving aren’t my favourite thing to do this time of the year. Can’t believe either it’s almost 2017, what has happened with 2016? Have a lovely and warm week ahead!

  2. Connie, I love all you photographs, but the black and white one is really stunning! You’re right about the bokeh being just as effective in black and white. I haven’t had a chance to take any tree shots yet, am planning to this week. I can’t believe Christmas is almost here! Have a wonderful holiday! xx

    1. I’ve been participating in “thebethadillychallenge”, one of the many 365 photo challenges. This is my fourth year. I may take a break & follow a weekly challenge in 2017. It’s been fun but it’s time for a change 😊

      1. I was doing 365project.org last year and really enjoying it until the second kid just knocked me for a loop. I want to get back into photography as my little bit of me time for 2017 again, though.

      2. I remember those days. My kids are all grown up now. Enjoy them…they grow so fast.

You might want to try a weekly prompt. That is where I’m headed this year. I’ve done 4 years of 365. I need a change.

      3. It was the weekly photo challenge on WordPress that first got me back into photography before I dared try the 365 commitment… it was pretty nice when I only had the one kid, and she would be interested in looking at the things I took pictures of with me. It made for a nice bonding experience, both taking the pictures together and being able to show her the screen to talk about the other people’s photos of flowers and other family safe things, but newborns aren’t exactly drawn to much besides milk and faces, and I couldn’t get 6 month worth of photos out of that!

      4. I hear ya! Good luck, but before you know it, you will be going for walks with the little ones and exploring… Just remember to take you camera with you … Or at the very least your mobile phone; most of them take pretty good pictures. Many of my photos are with my phone.

Make your own list-use a pretty journal (doesn’t have to be expensive) that works with your current place in life. Find extraordinary in the ordinary.

I’d love to meet you with the kids for coffee/tea & fun walks in the park, seaside, etc. Even street photography is doable with a phone.

You have some really great shots… Hope you get out when able to.
