January 2017 – week 2

Welcome back to my photo-a-day journey. This year I am attempting something a little different. I am not following a set list of daily prompts; instead I am posting a photo daily.

The weather this week has been changeable to say the very least. We have had snow, rain, wind…you name it, we had it. Currently it is -8C (17F), overcast and lightly snowing, though there is no snow on the ground at this time.

On to this week’s photos:

January 8 – reflection in my cup; I saw the reflection as soon as I set my cup down and knew it was my photo for today!

January 9 – last autumn’s splendour; dried out and crumbling, but still beautiful; all the little flowers look like stars ….

January 10 – hanging on; some leaves just keep hanging on until they are pushed off by the new growth in spring. I love that you can see the structure beneath the foliage during the winter.

January 11 – coming home; the view on the way home last weekend. Great skies; the low winter sun and snow clouds coming off the lake made for this striking image. I’m pretty please with the clarity here as it was taken out the car window, while driving (I was the passenger) with my cell phone!

January 12 – soothing cup of tea; spending this week recovering from a nasty flu virus; hoping this cup of tea helps!

January 13 – yardwork; watching hubby clean up after a big wind storm this week that brought down a lot of branches onto the yard. This is only a small portion of the clean up.

January 14 – constant companion; Mr Sock Monkey is my constant companion, even when I’m not well. Here he is making sure the the cough drops are close at hand. Thanks, Mr Sock Monkey!

  1. I hope you are feeling better, Connie! Your weekly shots are marvelous, I love the moodiness of January 11 picture. Don’t you love what you can do with your phone? xx

      1. I’m so glad to read this, Connie! I haven’t had the flu in many years, I think partly because I spend so much time at home in the winter. When I taught I would get it pretty much every winter. Take care of yourself!xx

  2. The weather has certainly been dramatic lately, hasn’t it? It’s like winter doesn’t quite know what to do with himself this year.
Hope you are feeling much better. Great photos!
