February 2017 – week 6

Welcome back to my photo-a-day journey. This year, I am attempting something a little different. I am not following a set list of daily prompts; instead I am posting a photo daily. Let’s see how that goes … so far so good!

This week’s weather has been very wintery.  We had an ice storm early in the week; cold temperatures for a couple of days and then some snow to round out the week. I’m really looking forward to warmer weather, that hopefully, is just around the corner!

Now on to this week’s photos:

February 5 – baking; what better activity to get into on a snowy Sunday afternoon! I blogged about these earlier this week (you can get the recipe here).  They were sooooooo good.  I will be making these again soon 🙂

February 6 – wintery county roads; this is my morning commute…in typicaly winter conditions; snow is blowing & the road is icy. Thankfully there isn’t too much traffic to deal with most of the way.

February 7 – share the love; enjoying a cup of coffee at the office while waiting for the ice storm to arrive. I love Starbuck’s Valentine cosy! (Update: I left work early & made it home safely, though the trip took twice as long as normal.)

February 8 – morning after the storm; the sun always comes up in the morning. A beautiful sunrise at my favourite wetland on my way to the office. Everything is coated in a thin layer of ice. Very pretty, but also very slippery.

February 9 – window to the past; one of the buildings at the old Camp Picton that I drive by every day.  (Canadian Forces Base Picton {CFB Picton} was a military installation located in Picton, Ontario. The base was active from WWII to 1969.  Today the site functions as the Picton Airport.)

February 10 – warm vacation memories; these tropical beauties were just hanging around, growing wild in front of the condo we stayed at in Kaua’i.

February 11 – snow on the spruce; I love how new snow looks on everything. It’s especially pretty on the spruce tree at the edge of the garden.
