Weekly challenge – ‘black & white’

Welcome back to my 52 week photo challenge, where each prompt is designed to help you build your photographic skills.

This week we are exploring black & white photos.

I love color! Our world is filled with so many vibrant shades that I just want to capture them all….however, I also love black & white.

Black & white photography makes you look at your subject differently…you notice the light & shadows more; and the textures, brings out the subtleties.  Black & white photography can add drama to a scene and can make some photos feel ‘timeless’.

Here are some examples:

A stormy sunset on last year’s vacation; the black & white treatment adds so much drama to that sky.

Here is the color version – I love it too, but for completely different reasons.

I also like black & white for portraits. I think it gives it a timeless appeal.

…and, again for comparison, here is the original photo in color

Thank you for visiting. Until next time, Connie 🙂
