May 2018 – week 20

Welcome and thank you for joining me on this year’s project of taking/posting photos every day.

The weather this week has been getting warmer, but still quite a bit of rain.  Also, I am on vacation in Dresden, Germany with cool, grey days that threaten rain, but it has yet to materialize.

Now onto this week’s photos:

May 13 – it’s dandelion season; I love the pop of colour in the lawn after a long cold winter, don’t you?

May 14 – violets are everywhere; these are one of the first things that bloom in my garden…or even on my lawn!

May 15 – Dresden; I’m on vacation with my aunt…in Dresden, Germany – It is such a lovely city, new & old beside each other. This is the view from my hotel.

May 16 – my current residence while on vacation; this is the hotel we are staying in, taken at nightfall. The yellow portion dates back over 100 years. It is centrally located so we can walk everywhere.

May 17 – Dresden’s Alt Stadt; which means ‘Old Town’.  The skyline is full of steeples and towers.  It is the home of many palaces as it was the home of Saxony’s Kings and a city of culture, religion, art and higher learning.

May 18 – Zwinger Palace; this palace is mostly a collection of baroque buildings surrounding a beautiful garden.  The various buidling are home to paintings of the great masters, an extensive Meissen porcelain collection, as well as a museum of historic clocks and scientific instruments.

May 19 – the Golden House; in the Kunsthofpassage in the Neu Stadt or ‘New Town’. If you are ever in Dresden, you need to seek this place out…it is so cool!
