Welcome and thank you for joining me on this year’s project of taking/posting photos every day.
This week’s weather has greeted the summer solstice and in lovely fashion. The days have been very warm without humidity – perfect.
Now onto this week’s photos:
June 17 – chives; we are phasing out our veggie garden as it never seems to be very productive. I don’t believe it is the right spot as it is quite shady. We have lots of mature trees that we want to keep. But, that being said, the herbs do well and I will keep a spot for this purpose.
June 18 – iris garden; I really love my iris garden – it always gives a great display of these beautiful blooms. The season is short, so I seem to take a ton of photos. These irises are a lovely soft lavender colour, here with a lovely golden glow from the setting sun.
June 19 – sunrise on the hostas; I planted them for two reasons; 1) they do well in the shade, which we have lots of; and 2) I simply love them. I have many varieties – some shiny and smooth & others very waxy & textured. They all bloom with pretty bell-shaped flowers in shades white and lavender.
June 20 – ruins at Lakeshore Lodge; this is part of Sandbank Provincial Park. Lakeshore Lodge was a resort at the turn of the 20th century. It was famous for its dance hall, fine dining and the sand beaches. Fire destroyed the lodge an only ruins remain today. It is one of my favourite spots for walking and photos.
June 21 – Happy Summer Solstice; the longest day of the year! I feel that daisies are the flower to welcome summer. These are at the roadside of my front yard.
June 22 – squirrel; first a plethora of chipmunks and now the squirrels are moving in with some interesting skirmishes. Never a dull moment here, but always entertaining. 😉
June 23 – creek side flowers; I awoke to rain and didn’t feel like getting wet so early in the morning, so pulled out another photo from earlier in the week. I don’t know the name of these pretty little flowers, but they happily grow along my creek bank.
I thank you for visiting. Feel free to join in on Instagram, #ciuan365 or #nothingisordinary or you can just follow me @BasildonKitchens.
Until next time, Connie 🙂
