June 2018 – week 26

Welcome and thank you for joining me on this year’s project of taking/posting photos every day.

This week marks the middle of the calendar year…how time flies when you are having fun! The weather this week included some rain, almost every day, not all day, just part of each day. No complaints here though, we really need it as the garden is getting quite dry. The week ended with the start of a heat wave, however, after the cold winter, I am not complaining….

Now onto this week’s photos:

June 24 – rain drops on the pines; a gentle rain that soaked the earth…you can smell the dirt…it is a good smell!

June 25 – stopped raining; but you can hear the dripping all around. I could almost hear the trees saying thank you!

June 26 – a beautiful summer morning; it is just glorious! You can hear birds singing, bees buzzing, the gentle breeze in the long grass…a perfect morning!

June 27 – gentle rain; another rain burst…gently replenishing the garden. Look closely and you can see the rain falling.

June 28 – a wet, foggy morning; more rain early in the day. I love the drops on the blades of grass.

June 29 – blooming milkweed; these are weeds, but we let them grow in the garden and along the edges of our yard. They attract & feed the butterflies…and they smell heavenly!

June 30 – after a morning thunderstorm; a noisy storm that woke me very early…more rain drops pooling on leaves. It seems to be the theme this week. My hosta garden is loving the moisture too!

June At-a-Glance: I really like to see how the months all look together – June is a very lush and colourful month, don’t you agree?

  1. I can’t believe either that the year is half gone! Your photos are beautiful, I have a Nikon too, but I never use it. I don’t have wifi on it, so I need to take the card and transfer the photos to the computer. It’s too much work. Which software do you use for editing your photos? I use iPhoto, but I don’t think it is good enough.

    1. I don’t have WiFi on my Nikon either, so transfer the photos from the card. It’s a bit of nuisance, but not too bad. I have a MAC computer and an iPhone, so can transfer back to the phone with Apple AirDrop – it works well. For editing I use Adobe Photoshop Elements (it is basic, but I don’t need anything fancy). You can get at for approx $80 CAD. I also downloaded the NIK software for free from Google and really like the Colour efex Pro unit…it is easy to use with outstanding results.
Let me know if you have any further questions… and Happy Canada Day! 🙂
